I wouldnt waste my money on a chip for a Jeep. Look at the rpm range that chips are made to work in.....@4500-5000rpm. 99.99% of the time your Rube will never see that kind of rpm on or off road. The sweet spot is more like the 1800-2900rpm area. The I6 engine just dosent respond well to bolt ons or chips....not alot of bang for the buck.

Now that said, chips or reflashing does work great on some vehicles. But the trucks or cars that do respond to chips or engine goodies make a different kind of power at a higher rpm range. The I6 is a low rpm torque grunt engine. This is what makes it such a great offroad 4lo tank.

One mod that gets raves is the bored throttle bodies. Jeepers Creepers makes one that Ive heard works well. Hesco also can grind one thats supposed to decent also. Bored TB's go for @$110 at Jeepers and Creepers plus a $125 core charge that you get back when you send the core into them. Dont worry that you get someone elses old TB...you get someone elses fairly new TB that will be machined and look like perfect anyway. TB's arent a wear item.

While I disagree with 99% of the members here about bolt-ons, I agree that chips are worthless, unless they are burned for your EXACT setup and modifications. Mail order/cookie cutter chips are worthless.

If you want to see some better mpg and HP, go with the usual suspects, intake/headers/exhaust modifications, that should get you headed in the right direction.
