I just bought some sound pods that have a dome light in them. There are 3 wires that hook up the light. 2 of them are fused next to each other like those lightweight extension cords, and are black, i assume these are a positive and a negative. But then there is another red wire not attached to the other 2... is this a ground? I want to wire them in so they work like the light under my dash. on/off when door opens/closes, and on when I turn on the interior lights. The dimmer doesn't really matter but would be nice too. The instructions say to wire it into the door switch, nothing else. Is this what I need to do? Thanks.

The OE dome light only has 2 wires and it operates via the dash switch or the door pins when opened. Don't know what you've got there.

Are the individual lights switched at the speaker pod? If so, you'll probably need to connect one + wire to a constant +12V to operate the switch on the light itself. Then connect the other + wire to a switch +12V controlled by the dash switch/door pins.

Ok, I got up the nerve to tear into the pods. The wires attach to the light and are labeled + - and aux+, So which positive do you think should be wired to a constant 12v? Yes, you can push the light to turn it on so one has to be to a constant power. Also, how do I get the door switch out so I can get to it easier to work on? Thanks.

Which + wire would be controlled by the switch on the light? That should be constant 12V.
