I have a 1997 grand Cherokee I just got and replaced My tail lights with LED'S.
all works find BUT now I have the problem with my flasher. it flashes fast(bulb out flash). I seen that on some of the flashers you can cut a lance to stop this. My flasher is a little dif. It has a 5 blade relay not like the TJ.

I would post a pic of my relay but don't know how here.

Usually, a fast blinking light indicates a blown bulb somewhere on the circuit.. Check all your bulbs and if that doesn't work. I would put the original bulbs back in and see if it flashes normal. GL

You may need to buy an electronic flasher. I had this problem when towing a trailer, the extra lights put more current through the flasher which made it blink faster. The new lights may draw more current and do the same. Look at this part: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/6V-12V-Adj-Flash-Rate-Electronic-LED-Flasher-Relay_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ34284QQihZ010QQitemZ200033512163QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

Ok maybe I didnít say this right!!!!!
My Flasher is flashing fast because the LEDís donít draw much Current.
Which makes the flasher think there is a bulb OUT.(this is built in to the flasher to let you know a bulb is out)
The flasher is above the fuse box. It looks like a relay with 5 blades
that plug in above the fuses. if you open the relay you will see a IC
chip, in this IC is what makes it flash . this is what Iím working on.

ps
I would post a pic here but i don't see how to do that here.

Compare your flasher to this one and see if they're the same - you'll likely have to follow the steps listed here. The earlier flashers were easier to mod to keep from flashing like yours is.

yes it looks alot like it but the chip is under the relay not on the other
side of the pc board. and it don't look like I have room to put in that
relay but i will look at this better.

Interesting write up on the flasher circuit. I didn't realize they used so many electronics in 97. The one I worked on was an 86 XJ, pretty basic setup.

Missed the 97 part - thought it was a newer flasher you're working on. That's different than my flasher, but again, mine's from a 97.
