Prior to painting my jeep i removed my cb antenna just the antenna and left the bracket there, when i put the antenna back on i can hear chatter but when i key the mic i get loud shreeking from my speakers if the jeep is on or cd player is on if i dont have the jeep or cd player on and the door buzzer goes off it comes through to the cb, if i have the door closed and nothing else on but the cb it works fine

my problem is if i have the coax cable touching the bracket a certain way all is good but if i hook it up the way it should be i get that feedback

i need help

can anyone point me in the direction to fix this, im thinkin its not grounded properly but im not sure what to fix since it workd before i removed the antenna

thanks

When it was painted, did the braket get painted as well? That could cause the grounding problem.

bracket was not painted taped over and its still the shiny silver with no green paint

theres a hole in the center of the bracket where the cable goes through and the antenna screws on to that

if i run it that way i have problems but if i take the cable and hold it against the side of the bracket it works fine
