I bought my daughter an 88 Cherokee and this morning the passenger wiper never even flinched when she turned the wipers on. It feels like it is disconnected as there is no resistance in it at all. How do you get into the mechanism on this thing? The panel the wipers goes through is welded on. Does this mean the dash has to come out? Help?
Thanks

If you look closely to the panel around the wipers there should be screws holding it on. To take the wiper arm off look at the base of the wiper arm. There is a little latch that slides enough to allow you to pull the arm off. Then undo the screws and lift the panel off. I have an 87 Cherokee and had to replace the motor. Its really easy. I'm by far no mechanic and it only took me about 10 minutes to replace it. Probably a bolt came loose or something. Or a wire could have got pinched.

Wow, thanks, what a life saver. I'm in a wheelchair so I at first look I wasn't up high enough to see that. I see the screws now. I will dig into it Saturday afternoon. I love this Jeep.

No problem. I learned it by experience. When I bought my Jeep the wipers didn't work. That's how I found out.

They are around $70 for a rebuilt or you can try a local pick and pull. Not to hard to replace.

Okay we're in. The passenger side arm where it snaps onto the drivers side is so worn out it just falls off whern you try to snap it back on. It doesn't snap anymore. I would rather buy new than risk a used one. Is there anywhere online that has a good price on the whole thing minus the motor?
