Need to protect my rear diff. Tons of options out there brand name wise but my question is: Do I replace the cover itself, with say a Rockcrusher Cover, or go with a differential skid plate, like a Spyder to just fit over my stock Dana 35?

I understand I will be able to put more fluid in if I go with the replacement cover, is this really necessary?

Is this just a preference thing?

Thanks.

I know crane makes a solid cover, but I'm not sure if a guard is just as good as a cover or not?

Well, more fluid in the diff would stand to reason likely more lubrication. However, for me it was more important to just protect the diff. I went with the Warn covers both front and rear. I bought both Warns for about the price of a single Rockcrusher cover. I've also heard there can be lengthy lead times with the Rockcrusher covers. And yea, the Crane ones are nice, also.
Blue Torch Fabs has a pretty nice one, too. 1/4" steel.

Toys By Troy makes the best diff covers you can get. You can see them at his website. They're designed to never hang up.
