hi
i recently purchaced my zj limited quadra-trac 4.0L w/100k for a decent deal of $2500 its like new but only has one problem. it binds/almost stops when turning into a sharp turn. so i think (from reading on here) the 249 is bad.
i want to swap a 242 which is the same as the select trac correct? but im kinda confused. is it a direct swap on only some of them or do you have to modify them to fit. mine has a 12/94 production date. what do i need and what should i expect to pay. please help i need to start whelling soon and put some dents in this things perfect body.

Dude, sounds like the V.C., but try some tricks 1st. Do some figure eights, try changing the fluid out to synthetic, check your u-joints/cv joints. If u reeaally want to swap it out check this link: http://www.98jeepzj.com/tech/np249.html
When he says GOOD SPRING CLIP PLIERS!! He means it, spend at least $25 on some. Get a REALLY BIG PAN for catching fluids or do it on someone else's driveway. Get the jeep up as high as you can and use a transmission jack. You're '94 t-case should fit ok, switch over everything, including electrical connectors and speedo stuff.(technical....) Take pics of things as they come apart, this helps ALOT later. Finally have an awesome time shredding your rear tires just like Swampboy and me!! Good Luck Brutha!!
