Gas may be up, but I'm gonna hold on to my 5.2!! My friends 4.0 HO can beat me off the line, but once we hit 3rd all he can see is the back of my jeep.

5.2 is a good motor, change the intake and bolt on a carb and its way more powerful, but at the sacrifice of milage putting that intake and carb would drop you to like 10 mpg...if you baby it maybe 14 maybe

and there is all kinds of tweakin you can do to it too

I put a rusty's air tube on mine, an AEM throttle body spacer, and a flowmaster 50 series muffler and have worked my mileage out to be about 17 miles per gallon. Noticed a nice increase in power too. I went on a trip to upstate New York with (about 600 ish miles one way) and measured my gas mileage on the highway to be about 23mpg.

I haven't been able to find a new carb for it yet.

I can't wait to put a np242 in my 5.2. I would imagine that I would get an increase in MPG. Might notice a little more power since its all going to the rear wheels. When I turn the OD off my jeep destroys people on steep uphills.
