87 XJ Accel Problem ??

I have a 87 XJ and when i give it gas it just revs up and to actually get it to go, i gotta push the pedal down hard, and its definently in drive bc i put it in neutral and then put it in drive and i heard it "click".

also the pedal will not let you maintain a speed, i get to the speed i want and kinda let off and it just revs and goes down, so right now the pedal is just letting me accelerate and rev

Does it feel like the transmission is slipping? Have you started by checking the fluid?

Sort of sounds to me like a Throttle Position Sensor
