I have a question...

currently i have a 1995 jeep cherokee country 4.0L I6 manual transmission. i would like to know how much more benefit it is to be to get like a hedman header to replace the exhaust manifold. will it really provide that much of a difference in the horsepower/torque ? i have heard that the exhaust manifolds stock already to a decent job but i was wondering if its worth the 300-400 bucks to get one.

I also would like to know if the cold air Fuel injection performance kit (FIPK) by K & N will fit on a 95 cherokee COUNTRY?? on the websites it says it will fit on a:

4.0L 6 Cylinder - XJ Series, Sport
4.0L 6 Cylinder - XJ Series, SE
2.5L 4 Cylinder - XJ Series, SE
4.0L 6 Cylinder - XJ Series, Briarwood

It does not have 4.0L 6 cylinder - XJ series, country listed and i was wondering if anyone could tell me if the intake systems on the cherokee country is the same as the SE or Sport. I trying to figure out if this cold air intake will fit on my jeep.

here is the link to the K & N FIPK kit (http://www.speedyperformanceparts.com/performance/basket.php?makeid=14&year=1995&modelid=149&partid=15&brandid=139

thanks alot to all who reply!

The engine should be the same, I think those are just trim packages.

From the XJ Stock Specifications sticky at the top of this forum.
Quote:

4.0L I6 MPI "Power Tech HO" (High Output) - 190 hp @ 4750 rpm, 220 ft lb @ 4,000 rpm - used in 91-95 and updated in 96-01 to 225 ft lb torque @ 3000 rpm (00-01 models use a distributorless ignition system)

Yes, those designations are just trim packages and yes the K&N will fit. The only differences in the engne was the switch from OBDI to OBDII computers in 1996. Since your's is a '95, it's OBDI.

Unless there is something wrong with your existing manifold (like a crack), I wouldn't spend $3-400 on a header...but that's me.

I just bought a set of cheap headers on Ebay. T-304 stainless w/ expansion tubes where the stock ones usually crack. The welds look good, hopefully it won't fall apart! They were $94 w/ shipping. I haven't put them on yet, but will keep you posted.

You can email me at tjsmith67@hotmail.com to remind me.

I was just wanting to let you know....you don't have to buy a fancy kit to put a K&N cone filter on. I removed the factory air intake box. Then used a large hose clamp to hold my K&N filter on the factory rubber boot that goes to the intake. Then I added a second battery in the area where the factory air filter box was. Just wire the batteries in series. This works really well for me. Cool
