Are these trails too hard to do alone or are they similar to Dunkle Hollow Rd? Shoe Creek is fun but kinda boring unless your with someone. There is one trail there I would like to finish too.

Am looking to get one more day on the trails in while up there for the VA4WDA Oak Ridge run. Have scouted Dry River the last trip and that was fun too, but my conscience won't let me do too much out there on my own.

Big Levels is a pretty easy trail system. It's similar to Dry River in terms of difficulty level. It's pretty close to Oak Ridge...a lot closer than Dry River is. Oak Ridge is on the southeast side of Afton Mountain and Big Levels is on the southwest side. You have to go over/around the mountin to get to it, but to get to Dry River you'd have to do that and then still drive another hour or so.

Maybe we can go on a little excursion over there when you come up. thumbs

We made it! Got Shoe Creek and Big Levels done Sunday and still managed to make to Richmond by 8pm.

Darn, that was a lot of bouncing around. Took a little longer than I expected but it was fun. Even managed to get high centered twice on that trail that goes straight up on Big Levels. Couldn't complete that trail because of the fallen trees though.
