Have a 96 GC Laredo 4x4 with 120,000 miles. I bought the car very used equipped with an aftermarket ignition-lock antitheft device installed. I just replaced the #16 fuse for the interior lighting and all h#*l has broken loose.

The factory alarm system has activated (it has never worked before) and appears to be in conflict with the aftermarket ignition lock system even when I have disarmed the latter.

The Jeep won't start and resetting the system hasn't helped. My local Jeep service center is scratching their collective heads and draining my bank account in the process! Please help! Other electrical issues that coincided with this event are: driver's side window controls working intermittently, check engine light on intermittently, flashers and instrument panel lights flashing (but no horn), high beam panel light flashing on/off, power locks engaging and disengaging on their own.

Anyone have any ideas? I don't have the original factory keyless entry fob and until replacing the interior light fuse (it has been blown since I bought the car) had never had any indication that the factory alarm was even operative.

I would appreciate any ideas. Thank you.
