Hi,

New to the boards, great site.

I'm upgrading my '88 XJ's ( 4.0L Auto, A/C) closed cooling to an open system. I found a few articles on doing so but the article lists a 3 row GDI all metal radiator.

I ordered the radiator from Radiator.com for $135 shipped. I'm not sure if it's the right one. It's made by Trans-Pro and they said it's the same one as the GDI? It has an aluminum core, is this as good as copper? Are there supposed to be tranny line nipples on the radiator?

My old one does not have these tranny line nipples and uses an external tranny cooler. Am I ok with this new radiator?

Also, I'm installing a Prestone Flush/Fill kit and I'm not sure which of the narrow hoses that run alongside the valve cover to install it on. Which one do I use?

TIA, Phil

Aluminum core actually cools better than copper core. A 2-row aluminum is about as good as a 4-row copper.

There will only be trans lines on the radiator if you order it for an automatic. If it doesn't, you should still be fine using an external cooler.
