A few months ago I got a "Rusty's Air Tube" with a K&N air filter. If you are not familiar with the air Tube its a piece that adapts a K&N filter to fit onto the stock air tube. It is an awesome upgrade but I am worried about going off road with it now. I haven't taken the jeep out since I have installed the filter and since my buddy and I are going out this weekend I was doing a once over and realized that the filter looks like it could be vulerable to trail junk getting in it. If anybody else has an aftermarket system, have you had any problem getting dirt and mud in it? Dose anybody have an suggestions on how to possibly modify the stock air box to use it to shield the filter from stuff being throw up into the filter?

Thanks,
John

GO to lowes buy some thin gauge aluminum sheeting..(in the hardware department..

Make yourself a splash shield that covers the hole where the stock box came from and maybe the area between the fender and the engine so that you can put it on when you need it and take it off the rest of the time..

When I had a K&N on my jeep, I found a lot of dust made it through. If you're not going to be in a lot of water/mud, you can also use a shop vac bag and rubber band it to the filter. Obviously, it'll lessen the benefits of the K&N, but will keep some of the junk out in the long run. http://www.stu-offroad.com/engine/air1/air-2.htm

Shop vac. Never would have thought of that one. Jeepers seem to be the mother of all improvisers.
