New problem with my '98 Sport. 4L, 155k miles. While in town at a stop light the check engine light went. Heading home about 12 miles on the highway, 65mph the light is still on, all gages read normal but is does not shift into high gear, the engine rev are around 2500 @ 55mph. Other than that there seems to be no problem. Would this have anything to do with the NSS adjustment that I was working on or is it another problem like the o2 sensor. Since I've only had this baby about three weeks and being a newbe I would do the sensor change myself but I understand there is a device that needs to be reset by a dealer. Or would the safe way be to go to a garage and just have a code reader put on? The key on/off reader dosn't give me a code (holding the milage reset while turning the key on. It goes through the number sequence and then reads the total milage. No help there.
thanks
Seajay

Go to Autozone. They'll pull the codes for free.

155K? When was last plug, wire, cap, and rotor change? Sometimes a mis-fire on even one cylinder will illuminate the check engine light.
