Hi,

I just got an 06' Renegade with "Command-Trac HD" 4-wheel drive.

The Jeep website offers 2 options for my trim:

Command Trac or Command Trac HD

Nowhere on the site, or in the manual can I find a description of the difference between the two. Anyone here have any idea?

Thanks.

This is what I found for 2006:
Quote:
Two four-wheel-drive systems are available. Command-TracŪ is a part-time system that allows drivers to shift on the fly into high-range four-wheel drive at speeds up to 55 mph. Command-Trac provides the peace of mind of available four-wheel-drive capability for part-time use on slippery or loose surfaces (snow, mud or sand) along with the convenience of shift-on-the-fly.

Select-TracŪ is a full-time four-wheel-drive system. It provides four-wheel-drive capability for full-time year-round use on any road surface, along with shift-on-the-fly functionality.

But no mention of what exactly Command-Trac HD is other than a few state bid specs using google. Is it listed on your window sticker?

Yeah. It's listed as "Command-Trac HD". If you go to the jeep website and do the "Build your vehicle" thing for the renegade, it shows a choice between "Command-Trac" or "Command-Trac HD". But if you click on the "More info" link for each, the desciption is exactly the same lol. Even the guys at the dealership can't tell me. Weird.

I was wondering the same question myself sometime ago. The only reasonable answer I found was on the jeep web site.

Go to http://www.jeep.com/liberty/4wd_capability.html.
Between the picture of the Renegade and the words "Liberty walks the walk" is the following text:

"Part-time Command-TracŪ (398KB) and the available full-time Selec-TracŪ (423KB) 4WD systems deliver confident capability, making Liberty one of the few in its class to offer a true low-range mode."

There are a couple of hyperlinks that go to animation (flash, I assume) with audio that explain the differences.

Hope this helps...

>>Command Trac or Command Trac HD

Rats.... I'm sorry... I didn't read the original question very closely.
I assumed the question as between Command-Trac and Select-Trac.

I'm stupid... sorry.
