Has anybody came across a air leak type noise on the 4.0L engine.
From stone cold the noise is not apparrent, but after 5 mins of driving this feint whistle starts from the engine bay, although quite intermittant it does stop when engine is warm. It only occurs under load. Any ideas? Delbert

i have the same problem, and mine is being caused by a crack in my exhaust manifold. its not big, but big enough to cause a whisle sound. that would be my guess. i have had this problem for a while ( havent had time or money to fix it) and it hasnt effected anything yet.

I had the same problem, but I could smell the exhaust. Also from what I have been told, is that if your monifold is leaking, you really need to do something to try and fix it. This is because unless the engine is under stress especially right after start up. Your having cold air hit that valve which is a few hundered degress and that air is alot less. You can get a cheap replacement like I did for about 120 and it only took me about 4 hours of real work to do it. I wasted alot of time trying to get the intake to line and and get all the lower bolts back in. And I would like to call myself, the 18 year old version of the shade tree mechanic Cool
