I have a Borla catback right now. If you've ever heard Borla, you know that it has a mean tone, but is only shades louder than stock. Are there any companies out there that have catbacks that include a very loud, bassy muffler? I love the tone, sound, and quality of my Borla catback, But it's entirely too quiet.

I have a flowmaster 50 seires muffler, not the cat back just the muffler, and it sounds really nice. A little loud inside too but I just play my music loud enough to cover it. Of course I got the 5.2L V8 so its gonna sound nice anyway. Cool

I have a muffler that I think is from a kind of small company it's called Vortex, but i went to a really good exhaust shop here in CT and said give me the loudest muffler you got. I'm pretty sure this thing is as loud as it gets without going to a glasspack, I recomend it 100% has a great throaty sound and is also great on the highway because it doesnt get engine drone. I would check it out if your looking for a bada$$ hot rod sound

Yeah I just want something louder.

The next problem. I can't just clamp in the muffler. I can unbolt the tailpipe, but there's an extention pipe welded to the front of the muffler that attatches to the Y-pipe, where it clamps on (slip fit). Would I have to fab this extension piece or could a muffler shop do it?

A muffler shop should be able to weld anything that has to deal with the exhaust.

What diameter is the borla exhaust system? I've seen electronic exhaust cutouts in 2.25 inches. When you want the rumble you just press a button to bypass the muffler, when you want to keep it legal, press the button again and close off the bypass.

I have a Vortex muffler on my Montero ... Sounds very nice and the muffler shop made me all custom stuff... I have probobly one of the worlds only Duel exhaust Montero Sports. Cost me almost $500 but it certainly looks and sounds good.. .But the shop had alot of Tricky crap to do to get the pipes in there and I had to extend the bumpstops and take the spare out from under the truck.. But I have a roof rack so ....UP it went... Mr. Green

Anyway.. I believe Magnaflow makes a cat back. But it would be better to just go to a muffler shop and tell them to put a magnaflow muffler on your rig and they will cut out the Borla and put in the Magnaflow.. (Or whatever ...)
