HOW REPAIR POWER WINDOW REGULATOR XJ 99 (VENEZUELA)

The power regulator of Jeep Cherokee 1999 here in Venezuela isn’t nothing different to the installed in the XJ´s in the US , in fact is the same; the problems are the same…..

One year ago I changed the left one side, and 2 weeks ago right one side failed the same way…………..

Well, after to investigate in internet this problem…….I saw that everybody with XJ´s and WJ´s had the same problem……….and Chrysler didn’t want to resolve this problem…..You doesn’t idea how Chrysler work here in Venezuela……..!!!!!

Here in Venezuela the right power regulator cost 220$ and the left one cost 85$, I don’t understand why this difference ???even if both are the same but symmetries????. The only explanation that I can FIND is that Chrysler know the problem with this parts, in special the left one’s....by this reason they down the price....while the left side one they didn’t nothing……...

Once I understood the design problem......THE BROKE OF PLASTIC BRACKET THAT ATTACH THE ROPE STEEL to steel plate in regulator device ......I take the choice to fit it making one new support with one piece of aluminum……

Next......I show several pictures that I took when I was making the new piece in aluminum.....and of course the installation on the steel plate in the regulator device:

This is my work place!!

This pic shows how broke the regulator plate

This was my proyect with measures and everything!!

The aluminium piece began to change

It was very hard to make this litle holes!!

The steel rode found the new support

The steel plate found the newly the steel rode

The last step was to assembly the power regulator inside the riel and install inside the door!!!!

I hope tha this could help !!!!! Very Happy Mr. Green dancing banana

You need to find somewhere like imageshack or photobucket to host the photos. http://www.jeephorizons.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=1495

Hey Otto,

Donno why but now I can see your pix. Great work!

1. Question, so the little aluminum piece you made rides up/down on that metal rod/spring like thing that's driven by the motor?

2. Is that little piece all that you have to make to fix the Window Regulator? So you just drill a series of holes in it and the rod moves thru them like a worm gear to bring the window up/down?

3. Finally, how did you attach that little aluminum piece that you made to the Regulator Plate?

4. Is your Cherokee 2 Door or 4 Door?

Thx, Phil Very Happy

Thanks Digitruk........Lastnight I could to fix the pic´s

1. Question, so the little aluminum piece you made rides up/down on that metal rod/spring like thing that's driven by the motor?

A.- The little aluminum piece make the same work that broke plastic attach piece, it rides ud/dowm inside the metal way attached with the rod/spring.

2. Is that little piece all that you have to make to fix the Window Regulator? So you just drill a series of holes in it and the rod moves thru them like a worm gear to bring the window up/down?

A.- The little piece is all that you need to fix the window regulator....of course, you need cut the old plastic broke that attach the spring/rod.

3.-Finally, how did you attach that little aluminum piece that you made to the Regulator Plate?

A.- You need to drill the little aluminiun piece to attach it in the same hole near to old plastic broke.

4. Is your Cherokee 2 Door or 4 Door?

A.- My Xj is 4 door but I´m sure that is work for 2 door too.
