anyone experience this - front end makes loud rattle (heavy metal hitting heavy metal) when turning left only. Everything is tight in front end like track bar, ball joints. Any help appreciated, be happy to trade jeep parts for solving this problem. Its a 91 cherokee 4.0 4WD. When I remove the track bar the noise practically vanishes.

I had a '88 Bronco that had a rattle in the front end when I hit a hard bump. The dealer said it was a loose sway bar and there was nothing they could do. I was tinkering around under it one day and started tapping a wrench on different things. When I tapped the front coil spring I heard the rattle, it was the hold down plate inside the spring. I tightened it and never had a bit of trouble again.

I'm not familiar enough with the front end componants yet to know how the springs on mine are secured but it might be something to check out.

i get the same type of rattle in my 98 cherokee. It comes from the left end during turning at slow speeds, or after a heavy braking, and taking off from a dead stop

Please reinstall your trackbar before driving the vehicle again. The trackbar positions the axle laterally under your vehicle.

As far as the noise....if the metal on metal sound is that significant, there should be clean, shiny metal showing somewhere to point out what the problem is.
