I have diagnosed an intermittent HVAC blower problem to a melted housing body near the 3-pin HVAC connector.(leading to poor ground contact pin connection).

Need to solder on some proper fitting pins to make a permanent connection .

How can I get proper fitting pins (and from whom). Is there a spec/mfg or model number I can quote.?

Don't want to replace module because it works and newer one will eventually melt as well.

Thanks,

I have also had electrical problems with the 2000 Jeep TJ A/C Heater Control Switch. Both the 3 conductor and 5 conductor (speed) connectors have melted. They melt both at the control unit's plastic housing and the connector body.

I replaced the AC Heater Control Unit, and soldered the leads to the terminals. One year later, a different connector/switch melted on the new box!

In addition to this, my HeadLamp/Dimmer switch connector has melted a little.

Does anyone know whats happening here? Are these connectors and switch boxes mechanically faulty? Did DaimlerChrysler not quality test the connectors for correct current rating (40A)?

aljos63,
RadioShack carries in stock or can order just about anything that has to do with electrical circuits. Radioshack is the only national chain store that I know of that carries specialized electical parts and components. Just take an example of what kind of connector you need with you to the store and they can look into their catalog and get you what ever you need.

The dealership could not find these connectors. I tried three different ones and really pushed hard, no luck. I ended up making my own connector with "Anderson" Powerpole connectors for the 12 gauge wire and a trailer wiring harness (both sides) for the 14 gauge wiring. I soldered directly to the HVAC control unit pins, careful not to melt the plastic. It's been a week and so far so good.
