Hi All,

I have 2005 Rubicon Unlimited 6 spd. I've got 7k miles on it now and love it. I have an issue that I can't seem to figure out and was there when I drove it off the lot. When I go over a bump, I hear a rattle/thump. I've checked steering components and can't find anything loose. I brought to the dealer and they couldn't find anything either. Was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I had a CJ7 with that had a loose clutch linkage that made a similar noise. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Can you narrow down where it's coming from? Inside? Outside? Front? Back?

Moving this to the TJ section.

Definitely coming from the front end, possibly right under the driver side. Basically has to be either in some sort of steering or suspension component I think. Can feel it sometimes in the stearing wheel when turning and hitting bumps. Guess it could be suspension also. Was just wondering if anyone else had this sort of thing. Noticed a TSB for front end noise relating to steering on a rubicon unlimited but there wasn't much detailed information on what was actually wrong. Appreciate any feedback.

Just found this post at NHTSA and think this describes possibility. Will check with dealer about this. Any thoughts?

Brought to the dealer and apparently my rattle was from a bad clutch-brake assembly.
