That depends on what you want, and how much room you have...if you have enough room, I'd say go with the York...but most likely, in your case, I'd say Viair would do just what you needed it to...fill those tires.

I myself want the front and rear lockers with the airhorn (maybe, haha) and the ability to fill the tires. Plus I have the room for the York, so I'm going that route.

I've had a York (noisy but makes lots of air) 2 Sandens (quiet and revved up make more air than a York at low RPMs)and a ViAir. The ViAir is very quiet and plenty of air if you run a 3 gallon tank. The York was the most work to install...the ViAir was the least expensive @ $175

Some questions
Would it not be a good idea to mount the electric type compressor in the engine bay somewhere ( the empty pan on the drivers side)? To much heat?
Is it a necessity to have an air tank just for tires?
Reason i'm asking is i was thinking on installing an electric compressor like the tornado 3 or ViAir in the engine bay and plumb it to the back and front for tires and maybe eventually for lockers. I really would not like to install an air tank if i dont have to.
any comments ?[/quote]

I use the little inexpensive MV-50 compressor to air up myself. Works great. I paid $25 for it but I think they go for like $50 now online and stuff. I actually bought 2 of them, one for the TJ and 1 for the XJ. My ARB is back up should I need...but prefer to leave it for the lockers.

Just another alternative that works pretty well. Oh...and the MV50 will air up one of my 33's in about 2-3 minutes from 12psi to 25psi (which is where I run them). I can't even get my disco's back on before I have to move to the next tire.

Yep I use the same compressor as IBTJn. Cheap and very effective. Im building a York piece by junkyard piece, but someday it'll all be worth it. Wink
