Hi, I have a 3” Tera-Felx lift with the upgrade going in Thursday. I have bought the Mickey Thompson rims and tires (15x10 wheels, with 33” Baja Claw)
The shocks are RS5000, my question is should I go with a better shock like the RSX? This will be used for very little road driving mainly offroad.

I think I chose a good lift along with the tires…I hope Confused

As long as you do very little street driving, the tires will be okay. Otherwise, you'll be cursing the day you ordered them. Wink

Now Im not saying that Rancho is bad overall.....they make great parts, with the exception being the RS5000 shocks....there crap.

RS5000 shocks are way too stiff. They arent calibrated with the short wheelbase and relitive light weight of the TJ. Even on full size heavy P/U's they are way too stiff and give a harsh ride.

Ive never tryed the RSX shocks, but I beleive thier closer to the IAS Edelbrock shocks, at least as far as the damping is concerned and are supposed to be dampend for individual vehicles. This is what OME does with thier shocks and it give a good ride.

So I guess Id say got for the RSX. And let us know what you think of them.

As far as the tire wheel combo.....I agree with Troy, the Bajas are okay off road, but they wont last long on asphault. And they suck in mud. The M/T wheels are nice.

I have the teraflex lift, and the baja claws on my wrangler and i love it. I don't play in the mud much, but they work really well in the rocks around arizona.

As far as the shocks are concerned, I have the adjustable rancho shocks and I dont think that I will be useing them again. I currently have them set on the softest level (i.e. cadillac ride) and they are really stiff. This may be different on the unlimited, but i have been told that the rsx is really designed for suv's.

So should I stick with the RS5000?

Hey thats cool. Post up some pics in the Photo Album section after its done.

BTW...do you live in an area where salt is used to treat the roads in winter? The only reason I ask, is if you do.....take pics of them purty new shocks, cuz that purty paint will be just a memory in a year or so. rofl
