Has anyone swapped in a Ford 8.8? I am tired of my D35 and am looking at the 8.8. It sound like a great axle and hay, you can grab one with disc brakes and have a free upgrade.

A lot of this applies though I'm not sure if the XJ spring perch spacing is the same as on a YJ. Wink

Thanks, that was helpful. They said that the ratio was 4.10. Is that true for all explorers? Also what about a ranger?

The Ranger has 28 spline axles and the drum brakes. The Explorer axle has 31 spline and disc brakes after 95. The explorer uses 3.73 and 4.10's.

How can you tell what it has? Is it printed somewhere or would I have the count the rotations of the tire and drive shaft?

You won't have the same worry about brackets as a swap into a TJ does, but read this. All the information you could possibly want.
