Hello to all,
i just bought a 96 Grand Cherokee 4.0 automaitic, and its stalling out every once in a while. Usually when its been turned off for a while, I'll get into it, drive down the road, and it will start choking out and sometimes die. Even worse, it wont start right back upthe first few tries. But then after it gets going, EVERYTHINGS FINE??? Im going crazy. I took it to a mechanic and they replaced the plugs, wires, and cap, which were really corroded. It didn't work. Then i took it back again, and he ran a fuel pressure test for over an hour and it checked out. So the next two days after I got it back, it drove fine. But today it started back up????????????????????????????????HELP Singed,
Ima Sucka

fuel pump, fuel filter maybe?

check those

the filter i would just change its like 5 bucks at the parts store and for the pump have someone turn the key to on while you are back at the tank listening for a "Hummm" if you dont hear one then your pump is possibly bad

but if you do it could have a short in it and it cuts off from time to time

what you described sounds like the pump to me

wouldn't the pressure test show the bad pump, and I replaced the fuel filter last week... Now I did read somewhere that it could be the Throttle Position Sensor? We will soon find out.

yes it would but if you tested the pressure when you pump decided to work correctly then you wouldnt know

you described something like your driving and its running out of gas correct?

could very well be a clogged fuel line as well

tps maybe but that would make the check engine light come on i would think
