Hey, I've got a request. Yesterday while I was changing my spark plugs, distributor cap, and rotor, I noticed that my engine comparment is laid out very similarly to how my engine compartment was arranged on my 97. I performed the same maintenance on my 97 and the same problems were there. Wasn't the AC compressor moved out a bit on the 99s? Hence the need to hack apart the fender to fit a York in there?

So anyway, what I'd like a good picture of your 97 4.0L's engine compartment if you've got AC so I can compare your 97 to my 99.

Now, being my 99 is an R-title, and there's a sticker on the engine with a 96 build date (always puzzled me, even though the VIN numbers match from what I can tell) I've always wondered if my engine might have been swapped in during the rebuild (it was a theft recovery...so some punk might've blown the gine for all I know). If this is the case, I wasn't told about it when the purchase was made (I was informed about the body damage, shown pictures, and they did a pretty nice job fixing everything)

So, maybe this is good. If I do have a 97 engine and accessory setup, I should be able to install a York using the 97 brackets...correct? This could be great as I don't have to hack apart my fender.

I guess any help you could provide would be great.

Thanks.

Did he have AC? It doesn't look like it from the pics. Hmm..back to the drawing board. I should probably post to a forum that gets more traffic right now...huh?

Did you buy the bracket, or make it?

In either case could you post a pic of it?

Me??? I don't have the bracket...I have the compressor. I wanted to see what the change was in 99 that requires the York OBA compressor to be moved out and the fender well be cut. From Kilby's site, the pics look as if the stock AC compressor is in the same location, but the AC lines are run differently on a 99 vs. 97-98. The one line sticks out further from the compressor than previously and this is what requrires the York to be pushed towards the fenderwell.

I've given up on this for the time being. I'm waiting to decide if there's going to be an Unlimited in my future...at which point I won't have to worry about the crappy layout of the 99s engine compartment.
