My Haynes repair manual, describes the piece at the bottom of my 1996 Cherokee Sports steering wheel,as the speed control switch/trim bar. mine is missing,so what is its function.? there is meant to be a plug which fits into it,so guess that's inside the wheel, someplace...cheers...Jim

yes,as I now know,I was told this arvo,by the Jeep agents here, that's what it is.Now another poser!!,my son has a 95 TJ ,but where the cruise control button/bar should be,there is only a blank same colour plastic piece taking its place, which cannot be pushed in,or moved, just a 'fill in' Would this be how it was originally,or did all this year models, come with the cruise control.?

then all i can think of is that it was an option and whoever bought the jeep didn't buy that option. i'm not 100% sure though.

hopefully somebody else can chime in. otherwise i'll try to find out more.

Thanks scorpio,I'd say you would be right, most cars these days,if not the top model of their particular brand, will have some fill-in blank panels, etc,so it wouldmake sense, that's why there's a solid panel on the wheel. thanks again,appreciated...Jim.
