Folks:

I have been looking at 2005 Grand Cherokee's that a local dealer is trying to unload...I hope someone has thoughts on these two issues:

1. My wife is reminding me that sooner rather than later we expect to have kids and that we are going to put child seats in whatever car I get....we hear rumors that the '05 doesn't handle multiple car seats very well....any thoughts?

2. The other questions is about general reliability of the '05.

Any thoughts would be most helpful.

I dont know of any issues with the 05 but I dont think you would have a problem putting as many as 3 child seats in there...

Go to the car lot.. and peep it out...

I have a '05 WK Laredo that I love. My kids are older now so no worries about car seats but I read somewhere that the head rests on the rear seats do not allow the seats to sit flush with the seat backs. See if you can borrow a seat from soneone and go to the dealer and try it out.

By the way, AVOID the 6 cyl. This is a heavy truck and needs the 4.7 or the Hemi.

Cant comment on child seats, but we have a 3.0 CRD and have to say it is the best car we have had (and we have had many). It igives a smooth ride, and is a pleasure to drive. Took a little bit time to get used to all the gadgets (climate control, memory seats, easy exit seats etc) but all these add to make it an excellent vehicle for both driver and passengers.

maybe this is too late for you. We just picked up a 05 Ltd with the HEMI and you heard right the car seats do NOT sit flush because of the headrest. Should not be too much of an issue though. You can still install the seat and secure it down. If you are really worried about it you can always disassemble the headrest and put it back on after the kids have grown. I would rather pay money to buy a new headrest.
