I had a Chevy 350 that would do same thing, turned out to be the pickup coil inside distributer. at first it would just die and restart, then it stayed out longer periods and finally wouldn't start at all. On mine dist had to be pulled and disassembled to replace coil. Not sure on Jeep. But it solved the problem. From the code it sounds like it may be the problem.

do you get a code for the crank position sensor?

My 94 would die while driving, and sometimes restart on its own, while moving. Sometimes it would not start after being shutoff for about 20 minutes or so.

It was the crank position sensor.
Changed the senor, and no more problem.

Not sure the CPS throws a code.. But its not that expensive.. I would pull it out and look at it. .They normally look bad when you look at them..

All the ones I have seen go bad looked melted..
