Has anyone had bad experiences with those adapters you can buy for the stock carrier?
Any suggestions would be great!

I heard the stock tire-carriers are very limp-wristed and won't stand up to the weight of larger-than-stock tires. Could be a vicious lie. Rolling Eyes

I've been using this: http://www.quadratec.com/products/22202_101.htm for my 32s for a few months now, its held up just fine.

I have the factory swing out carrier and it holds up to mu 238/85r16 which is equal to a skinny 32" but I've been told they cant handle a 33x12.50 or larger, mainly do to the way the bushings are pressed in. I've had mine swing out on it's own and one bushing popped out, lucky for me I got it to go back in and stay, so yes I would say it's true.
