Looking for tips on boosting fuel ecomony without sacrificing power. I've heard about air filters and exhaust helping, but I've also hear that throttle body spacers hurt fuel economy. What are the easiest (cheapest) ways to boost gas mileage.

Honestly? The best way to increase gas mileage is to slow down and have a light right foot. Everything else is either a gimmick or snake oil. Wink

Yea light foot is your best way.

But also new fuel filter, sensors, tune up, etc will get the best performance available.

I get much better mileage with high octane....so pay now or pay later...

Have your thought about a nice mountain bike? rofl

Or get a diesel, run vegetable oil in it...

Good luck!

All the above are good especially the light foot comment..haha. But as far as the easiest what you mentioned will be about right. Aftermarket filter and exhaust. As for the TB spacer you will get smoother and quicker throttle response but pretty negligible in gains, maybe a half a pony. But your midrange with this AND the other things will greatly improve efficiency. I went from about 17 on my '91 manual to maybe 20 with these and some other mods....but I am also driving easier since gas is so high so call it even or a little smidge better on actual mpg but the trade off to get better response and midrange was worth it....to me anyways. Good luck.
