I have a 2002 TJ with a major problem. I'm hoping someone might have a cheap solution. On the steering column between the key cylinder and the ignition switch is a small white metal cage with a plastic actuator on a spring the end of the metal cage has broken all to heck! When it first broke I was able to tpe the break up bypass the need to turn the key in the cylinder with a push button start but now I have to use a flat screwdriver in the ignition switch to turn the ignition to the start point then use the push button to start the engine. Chrysler wants $750.00cdn or more for a new stearing column as they do not sell this little 3 inch long part separately!? The wreckers are of the same mind whole stearing column only - $250.00 plus! Any suggestions?
