I have a 92 cherokee with the 4.0. My daughter hit a ditch bank sort of Dukes of Hazzard style when she ran a stop sign on a dark country road. Bent up the whole front end underneath. I replaced it only to find the distributer gear missing 4 teeth. I bought a new one only to find the gear on the crank to be missing teeth too. She had to hit it pretty hard. Has anyone ever experienced this? I have a perfectly good Cherokee wthat doesnt run because of that. Any easy fix? Please help or does anyone need a good body & tranny. Fixer upper.

I've seen allot of wrecks and have never heard of that happening.
The front of the motor must have been hit to drive the cam back and shear the teeth unless I'm not understanding what you said???
