I've got a 96 XJ.. about 93k on it and when I hit a rut or pot hole over 35/40 I get a shimmy in the wheel and throughout the car. Sometimes worse than others but it generally stops. I also have a little shimmy when driving on the highway like a out of balance tire. I've had the alignment checked twice, wheels balanced, new sway bar bushings, track bar, steering damper and still the same problem. Seems to do it more when the wheel it turned to the left slightly vs the right. I'm starting to wonder if its a bad ball joint? Anyone ever had this happen before or know how to check ball joints?? Where do I look for play in a bad ball joint? Any other ideas?

Is it stock or lifted? The reason I ask is sometimes if the Trackbar mount and the draglink mount near the pitman arm are not parallel then you can and will get bumpsteer.
