as my title says im lookin to get a synthetic winch cable but it says that a roller fairlead is not good for them, and thats what i have from my old cable. Anyone know the problem with using a syntheic cable and a roller fairlead?

Moving this to General Tech. Basically, a roller fairlead can cause the synthetic cable to fray.

well see thats pretty much happened with my regular cable. i un rolled it al the way out so i could roll it back up the right way and the whole thing just popped out.

How do you mean it popped out? It came off the drum?

You have to keep 5 wraps or cable around the drum in order to keep the loading from being applied directly to that little bolt attaching the cable to the winch.
