Hi,
I swapped the input shaft from 249 to 231 and reassembled the tcase. I already noticed before that the front output yoke of the two tcases have different shapes. When I tried to swap it, the two yokes have different sizes in holes. 249 has I think 33 shaft spline count and the 231 have 27. And I cannot use the yoke from 231 because it is wider. I think, it will rub or bump with the double cardan joint.
These are my thoughts:
1) I will look for a slimmer yoke with the same spline count.
2) I will replace the double cardan joint. No idea yet how to.
3) Temporary. Will install the tcase and remove the front driveshaft just to see the truck run. Very Happy .
Any suggestion? Thanks...

It is from a 93 XJ. I measured the diameter of the yoke ears and both have the same diameter.
I will just scour for a front DS. THanks...
