While I was looking for a waterpump on ebay I came across this auction. It is supposedly a supercharged 98 5.9 with an NV 4500 5 speed manual transmission. I don't know if it is an actual 5.9 since it is missing the 5.9's side badges as well as the the 5.9's 5 spoke wheels. The wheels look to be from an earlier model year- they may be the 15 inchers. It does have the appropriate hood louvers and leather wrapped transfer case lever though. It also appears to be equipped with a god awful hood bra. I just thought that some of you guys may want to take a look at it. It is a reserve auction and it has a ton of miles on it but the starting bid is $5000. If the link doesn't work just go to ebay and search for "grand cherokee" + "5.9" Here's the link:

read closer - the steering wheel has been replaced and the hood is painted like that. just seems odd that the important photo of the engine is missing. Rolling Eyes

It is really suspicious that there aren't any photographs of the supercharged 360 engine. However, I did notice that it does have the roof rack with the raised rails that was only available with the 5.9 edition. The roof rack could have been swapped from a wrecked 5.9. Someone has actually placed a bid for it though. But the reserve still hasn't been met. If it has actually been modified as much as the seller claims I sure as hell wouldn't buy it over the internet without being able to see it and take it for a test drive in person.

The auction has ended, but I went back to see if it sold. The reserve wasn't met but the highest bid was $6,100. The guy also put pictures of the engine up. It does seem to have a supercharger on the engine- of course you can't tell if it really is the 5.9 or the 5.2 by the exterior of the engine since they share the same block. I don't know, it does seem to have all of the 5.9 limited's features though.

He said he went to various Jeep sights and they told him it couldnt be done....

Must have been Jeep Forum... rofl

Cause I would have told him that all of that can be done and more.. I have installed much bigger supercharges than that and I know 2 people with NV4500's behind the 5.2/5.9 block..

And one guy who has the NP435 behind one..

I dont see anything that makes that look like a special rig ... I agree that the 4500 is a good tranny and its alot of work to get one in there but its not impossible nor does it make his Jeep super duper... Mr. Green

Now if it where lifted with some 33's or so and a winch bumper.. That would be another thing... rofl

Wonder what his HP rating is on that?? I am getting about 360 out of my 5.2 without a supercharger...But I would be willing to be that he doesnt have the engine work into his that I do.. Looks like he bolted that supercharger to a stock engine... I hope he is running some high octane fuel in that thing....

I have to run at least 93 octane or mine starts making noise... I normally run Sunocco 110 (racing fuel ) Its 110 octane and only cost me $4.60 a gallon (Not bad considering what regular gas cost these days..)

All in all that Jeep is nice but that $6000 bid should have bought it.. Maybe $7000 at the very best ....He is kidding himself if he thinks he is going to get alot more than that...
