When I was in high school, I had a 1995 Chevy Blazer. I had an Escort/Passport radar detector and instead of using the cigarette lighter plug, he somehow hard wired it into the fuse box. This was great because the radar detector would turn on when I turned the engine on and I didn't have to worry about running the battery down because I didn't remember to turn it off. I now have a '98 ZJ 5.9. I've recently purchased a Valentine One radar/laser detector and I want to wire it up like I had in my Blazer. I've never done any automobile wiring but I've got basic mechanical skills and I'm competent at soldering and I've done electrical work on computers and other home electronics. Can anyone tell me how to go about wiring the radar detector into the fuse box? I specifically want to know where to attach the wires so that the detector turns on with the ignition but turns off when I turn off the engine.
