When I first start it up the engine fast idles for about 5 seconds then it has a dead miss at standard idle but doesn't die, when I take off down the road it misses like you turned the key off for about 2 seconds every 10 seconds or so. Once the engine gets to operating temp. the problem goes away although it only gets about 14.5 miles per gallon. I put new plugs, wires and rotor cap on it. I checked the fuel preasure it was good. So I gave up and took it to a reputable mechanic. He put it on a scanner and said the sensors checked out fine and didn't have any trouble codes. He also said he didn't know what the problem was.
Anyone have any ideas? It's my kids jeep and I don't want him getting run over cause it misses.
Thanks

Well, if it's fine after it warms up (closed loop), the problem is either in the O2s (did he read the mVs on those?) or somewhere in the PCM itself, that's all I can think of right now.

HE said he did check the O2s while it was cold and had the miss. However it did have a O2 sensor trouble code when I took it in that hasn't been back on since he cleared it out. Right now I've got a "pcm has lost voltage" and a "failed to reach specified idle RPM".
Thanks

I have a 97 wrangler and it does the same thing, i also gave it a tune up and in the morning when i start it up it sputters and goes away after a minute. So i always just let it warm up a minute before taking off.
