First off I hope I can write this so people can understand what I'm talking about. Confused I am replacing my stock dif cover with a Rockcrusher dif cover. My dilemna is what length bolt to use. Rockcrusher sent a 5/16 (course thread) x 0.75" bolt to replace the OEM bolts. The twist is that I have a Rock Krawler lift kit with the bolt on truss, the truss sits between the housing and the dif cover. It is 1/4" "laser cut steel". Now Rock Krawler sent me a 5/16 x 1.00" bolt to use just for the stock dif cover and there truss. I called Rock Krawler and they suggested to get a 5/16 x 1.25" bolt with a self locking head. I can do the math, and the numbers sound fine until I start thinking about how much thread is actually screwing into the housing. With the Rockcrusher bolt I have 1/2" of thread that would be inserted into the housing. I took there bolt and just put it into the dif cover and measured the remaining length of thread. Now when I do that with the Rock Krawler bolt I get 3/4" of thread going into the housing. Wouldn't that be long enough? 0.75" of thread minus (-) the 1/4" for the truss would still give me 1/2" of usable thread inside the housing. So....to make this just a little longer Mr. Green will the 5/16 x 1.00" bolts be long enough to secure the new dif cover and the lift kit truss to the housing, or should I go get a 1.25" bolt? I'm not sure how deep the housing is bored for the bolts! If this makes sense to anyone I could use some help, neither of the 2 companys I got the products from were much help. Thanks in advance.

Jeff

Ok well I answered my own question when I had my rear dif cover off this weekend. There is only about 1/2" bore depth to my D35. I used 3 length of bolts to figure out the depth: 1/2" - 1" - 1.25". The 1/2" fit snug against the housing, the 1" bolts had 1/2" of thread still left when snug and the 1.25" had you guessed it 3/4" of thread showing when snug in the housing. Now if I could only learn to drive with big tires. Wink
