I bought a 2006 Jeep Wrangler X in January of this year. I have put all sorts of extras onto it. This is my first Jeep ever and I wanted it to look the way that I had always dreamed.

I had it lifted 3 inches and put 33" tires on it. A month ago I went off roading and my jeep would not stay in 4 low. There was a major grinding noise when trying to put it into gear and it won't stay there. It keeps popping out.

I took it to the dealer to get fixed under warranty and they said that it is because of the lift that I had put on it. Some kind of problem with the linkage or transfer case. I am not very technical, don't know how to work on cars just motorcycles.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,

They're probably right. Was a transfer case drop installed? If so, whoever did the lift install didn't adjust the t-case shift linkage properly. The linkage mounts to the body and the t-case. If you drop the t-case, it screws up the alignment.

Rubicon Express sells a bracket that move the shifter off the body and onto the transfer case. In the meantime, if you need 4-lo have someone under the jeep push the linkage back some as you put it into 4-lo to lock it in.

Later...

I think you have the wrong company. Skyjacker and Advance Adapters made the relocation brackets. I just flipped through RE's new catalog and didn't see a bracket.
