Hello, I don't know much about the tranny but the 2.8 is not as tough or powerful as the 4.0. I think it's made by GM. I've heard it only last to 100k in some cars but 200k in others. Seems hit or miss.

The later 2.8L V-6's were from International Harvester based on the the the Chevy 2.8L, but significantly stronger. If memory serves me correctly, the bearing sizes in the bottom end are bigger, and the oiling system was improved, as was breathing in the heads.

This motor is a piece of crap. It is the same motor GM produced 1983-1986. The motor was know for warping crankshafts and bad blocks. My father 1983 had the first S10 Blazer engines lasted to 30,000 miles.
Got rid of in 1984. Some motors did OK.Thats why in 1987 the 4.0 came.
What tranny I couldnt tell you.
