Sounds like a loose ground, check your connections.

Now when you say blink out of control. Do you mean like a really fast blink or do they blink left to right?

Fast blink means your Jeep senses a burned out bulb, which in this case could be a ground or a loose bulb in your rear tail light housing. Pull the bulbs and make sure they are clean and seated tightly.

A bad ground is a possibility, but if you haven't changed anything then its less likely, but not impossible.

Replace the bulbs.

Either that or a bad ground.

I have a 97 TJ and I have a similar problem, except I have changed the light bulb and am still having problems. I did note that the light was not bad, the one I took out.

Additional information about this, The tailight as a whole doesn't work. The left turn signal flashes quickly when on, since the back doesn't work.

What should I check for this?

Any help is much appreciated, this tends to be a safety issue since people behind me can't tell when I want to make a left turn.

I would tend to agree, however the Tail light is working, it is only the Turn Signal and Brake Light is not.

Any additional suggestions?

Look at the socket. Is the bottom corroded? Is the socket bent or need to bent in to hold the bulb properly. I had the same problem. The bulb was new and the ground was good. The socket was bent. It took 2 seconds to fix.
