My jeep has a problem with its overdrive. Occasionally while driving, my overdrive will turn on and off on its own. The control on the dash is not stuck or jammed. Has anyone encountered this problem or have any advice?

Thank you in advance

can u turn your OD switch on and off and visually see the light come on and off. My jeep has been doing the same and my switch works when it wants to. it could be the overdrive solienoid not venting or is shorted or going bad. been waiting on some extra cash to check everything. something i been wanting to do but cant find the time. take it to auto zone and have them scan your jeep with an OBDII. i heard they'll do it for free. if you go there, let us know what you find out.

My mistake! I should of said DRB/DRB 1 scan tool. Pre 96 can be scanned. The data link connector is near the a/c lines close to the firewall. Little square black box according to THE BOOK. bowdown

Remember, a DTC (dianostic trouble code) may indicate the result of a failure, but never identify the failed component directly.
