I have the 95 grand cherokee factory alarm that will on occassion sound the alarm. Is there anyway of testing the alarm and finding out what is making the alarm sound? Does anyone know of a good way to eliminate the alarm.

To test the alarm, let the window down and step out of the vehicle(engine off), lock the doors with the key fob, then reach through the open window and manually unlock the doors, this should set off the alarm. What do you mean by eliminate the alarm? Physically remove it, or just turn it off, or make it so that it no longer activates? I believe that you have to visit the dealer to have the alarm "deactivated".

yes I was thinking of physically removing the alarm so I could have a car starter installed with alarm. I cant do that with alarm malfunctioning.

I don't know where the factory alarm controller or where the rest of the alarm system is located in the vehicle. I have heard of people installing alarms with remote starters without messing with the factory alarm since anything that will set off the factory alarm should set off the aftermarket system. I don't know what or where the vital parts of the alarm are (i.e. pull this and the alarm won't work". Also, I don't know if any error codes will appear if you do pull the alarm. My advice to you if noone else on the forum can tell you how to pull the alarm is have the dealer deactivate it.

On the passenger side there should be a fuse box in it should be a fuse for the Alarm. I'm thinking maybe you could pull the fuse for the alarm and maybe that will help. Although having the dealer deactivate it is probley best, I was thinking pulling the fuse may save you some money.
