Me and a couple buddies found these bad ass trails. i was able to make it but i couldnt go down some trails cause the water was to deep or hill to steep. i thought about puting on a body lift and some bigger tires on it. what should i do??? any suggestions?

thanks for the help.

First off, body lifts suck. They don't really improve articulation or clearance. Second off, the Grand Cherokee is a unibody- meaning that the body is the frame. Since the body and the frame are one in the same thing, you can't really lift the body off the frame. You may want to look into getting some coil spacers if you don't want to do a real big lift. Also, if you've found someone trying to sell you a body lift for a Grand Cherokee; they're trying to dick you over.

That statement is flat out incorrect. Body lifts provide pure tire clearance and allow fitment of bigger tires. Bigger tires translates into more clearance under the entire vehicle. You could also argue a body lift can provide more articulation by providing more fender clearance to stuff a tire.

Ding ding ding...this one is correct. Grand Cherokee and Cherokees are unibody vehicles. They don't have a true frame and you can't lift the body off the frame. It is impossible to install a body lift and you won't ever find one to purchase.

First off, I said body lifts suck and they do- that's an opinion (that I stand by) so it's not correct or incorrect. They do add ground clearance by increasing tire size but that can be accomplished in other more effective means as well (ex: portal boxes, suspension lift, fender trimming, or body panel replacement). I've had a body lift on a previous vehicle and I can say from experience that the drawbacks from having to deal with radiator, fan, and other engine issues that they are definitely not the way to go. You may be able to get away with a 1" body lift without having to modify the exhaust, radiator, and other things. If I had a choice between lift blocks and a body lift, I'd go with lift blocks. Since the GC is a Unibody body lifts don't apply so its really a moot point.

If you do add coil spacers, be sure to check and see if you'll need longer shocks. Also you could add a small suspension kit like Old Man Emu and I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results. If you go over 4.5" you'll need to check and see if you'll need to make driveshaft mods.

Now now lets not fight, body lifts are a matter of personal opinion, some like them because they are cheap, while others dispise them because of the problems that may arise

thats another story seein as how the grand cant be body lift it

If it were my jeep i would honestly put in a mild (3-4) suspension lift, you seem to like to wheel and want to go farther places the suspension lift would help you a good bit, as would some taller and rougher tires

http://www.suspensionconnection.com/cgi-bin/suscon/42902.html

http://www.4x4wire.com/jeep/tech/susp/WJlift/

the only think about a WJ is that there isnt as much of lift options out as it is for the ZJ

google around im sure you can find more than i have found, im pressed for time at school

Those are 38" tires (not my truck by the way)
The fender flares are made overe here, they cost about $800. shock Mr. Green
It's not lifted a lot they cut the fenders so it doesn't have to be lifted as much which gives better handling.

Thats a lot of Jeep right there. I think I have enough bills already, I can't imagine the gas milage shock

topsideroyal, Get a 3.5 or 4 inch lift and some 32's inch mud tires. You won't be sad you did it. I couldn't believe the improvement agressive mud tires make off road.
