So...in conjunction with this thread, outlining Troy's idea on gathering specification info to help out the newbs, I'm starting this to gather info on TJ's. I'm looking to complie a list similar to the list on XJ's in the Cherokee forum
The list in the following post is by no means complete (I believe what I have so far is accurate though)...there is a lot missing, including Rubicon specs. So if you guys and gals could chip in here to help fill it out, that would be awsome...every little bit will help!
edit - oh yeah, can this be made a sticky?
Rock On!

Commonalties across the Design
Introduced in early 1996 as '97 models. Appearance did not change so much, except for installation of round headlamps. The most notable change was a revised suspension that did away with the leaf springs in favor of coil springs.
Dimensions:
Wheelbase = 93.4"
Overall Length = 151.8"
Overall Width = 66.7"
Overall Height =70.2"
Curb Weight = 3092lbs.
Cargo Volume = 55.7cu. ft.
Fuel Capacity = 15.0-19.0 gals (standardized in '99 to the 19 gal tank)
Seating Capacity 4
Body
The body is only available in a 2 door version. A new canvas top was introduced, with plastic windows, which folded more like a traditional convertible's roof. A hardtop with full metal doors and roll-up glass windows was optional.
Engines
2.5L I4 - 120HP 140ft lb torque
4.0L I6 - 190HP 225 ft lb torque (00 and up models use a distributorless ignition system)
Transmissions
AX-5 - 5-spd manual used with the 4-cyl engine
AX-15 - 5-spd manual, manufactured by Aisin, only with 6-cyl engine from 97-00
NV3550 - 5-spd starting in 2001, coupled with 6-cyl engine until 2004
???? - 6-spd manual coupled with 6-cyl engine
???? - 3-spd auto used 97-02
42RLE - four-speed automatic transmission (used 2003 & up)
Transfer Cases
NP231 and NP241. The input gear of these transfer cases has had some various spline size specification changes. In general, if the vehicle was equipped with a 4-cylinder engine, the transfer case will have a 21-spline input gear. The only exception to this is the Peugeot applications, which always had the 21-spline transfer case. The AX15, used with the 4.0 High Output, and the automatic 727 always have a 23-spline input gear.
