i have a 2000 grand cherokee with the 4.0l motor. from a stop when i start moving the transmisson shifts from first to second fine but from 2nd to 3rd it sticks fir a bit then shifts ???? seems to be fine when l'm driving in 3rd and i step on it. its shifts down to 2nd and then back to 3rd fine...seems like i only have this problem from a start. doesn't matter if the vehicle is cold or hot.....does it now all the time. any input u may have ito this would be great...thanks.

i know this seems kinda simple, but did you check your tranny fluid level?

That's common with most 42RE trannys. How many miles do you have? Change the tranny fluid/filter lately?

it has about 140,000kms and no fluid and filter change yet.

Change the fluid and filter. The valve body is most likely cruded up with dirt and clutch material. That will cause slippey, slushy, inconsistant shifting. 42RE's don't like being dirty...
